Agatha All Along – Series Review

The series Agatha: All Along was, unfortunately, a disappointing experience and a major letdown within the Marvel Universe—especially after the standout appearance of Agatha Harkness in WandaVision. In that series, Agatha had a powerful presence and a significant impact on the storyline. Sadly, this new show failed to deliver anything close to the level of WandaVision, except for a few moments in the final episode.

The biggest weakness of the series lies in the performances of much of the cast, as several actors struggled to portray their characters convincingly. Joe Locke, who played Billy Kaplan (Teen), was the weakest among them. He was unable to carry the series as a central figure alongside Agatha. Additionally, the other characters felt shallow and underdeveloped, making the dialogue bland and empty, stripping the story of emotional weight or dramatic depth.

The series also suffered from repetition and monotony. There was little genuine suspense or meaningful development in the main storyline. This stagnation continued until the final two episodes, when events finally began to move forward—but by then, it was too little, too late. The script clearly lacked the tight structure needed to captivate viewers, relying instead on surface-level hints without properly developing either the characters or the overarching plot.

That said, there were a few positive elements. The visual effects—particularly in the finale—were of good quality, and the musical score added a layer of mystery and tension in key moments. However, the action sequences were notably weak and poorly executed, failing to create any truly memorable or thrilling scenes.

The final episode was undoubtedly the strongest of the series, placing greater focus on Agatha and attempting to rekindle audience interest. It revealed certain secrets about her past but still left major questions unanswered—such as how she obtained the Darkhold. Although the finale tried to compensate for the show’s overall shortcomings, it ultimately wasn’t enough to save it.

One of the series’ biggest problems was the character of Teen/Billy, who can be considered one of the weakest characters introduced in the MCU so far. The character lacked charisma and dramatic depth, and the performance felt unconvincing throughout. Having such an unappealing central character made it difficult for viewers to emotionally invest in the story or care about what would happen next.

Rating: 3.5/10
